After nearly six years of hard work, a young woman successfully completes her MBBS and, with great difficulty, passes the NEET PG exam to secure admission to a PG medical course. How many dreams and expectations must she and her family have had?

What was her crime?

She works a 36-hour duty. In the same hospital where she studies and works, there is no place for her to rest. She goes to the seminar hall to take a brief break.

The shameful truth is that even in most courts, there are no separate restrooms for women, women officers, or female staff.

When she entered the seminar hall, how could she have known that she would leave only as a corpse…?

A group of 8-10 human-shaped beasts attacked her. How could she have defended herself? Her glasses shattered, and the shards pierced her eyes, causing blood to flow. Her neck was broken. Her body was covered in injuries. She couldn’t even scream for help!

These ten beasts raped her. Her private parts were mutilated. She must have wept, thinking of her plight. There was no one to save her. Her neck was strangled, and the pain she had endured finally ended with her death.

These beasts, worse than scavengers, defiled her dead body. Even in death, she wasn’t spared. They threw away her stethoscope. Her white apron, stained with blood, was torn and discarded. Her naked body was left on display as these animals left the seminar hall.

She underwent a postmortem while still alive. And then, after death, another postmortem…?

Her dreams, the dreams of her family, all perished with her. Not a single one of those criminals has been arrested yet. What a shameful act!

Doctors who protested peacefully on her behalf were attacked. Is this democratic India?

We once sang, “If one person is without food, we will destroy the world.” But today, she doesn’t even have the freedom to rest in peace. Women can’t even find a place to retreat for their natural needs.

The beasts that devoured her roam free. Is this independent India?

When Panchali was disrobed in the Kaurava’s court, Krishna came to her rescue. But today, no one is here to save us.

Insta influencers, state ministers, the Prime Minister, actors, the public, politicians—none will raise their voice.

What happened in Kolkata today will happen in Chennai tomorrow, and then in Bangalore, Gujarat, and in other states and capital cities, and then in your town, your street, or even in your home.

The criminal must be caught and given the most severe punishment. The public often forgets doctors.

They call doctors gods! During festivals, they lift the gods on their shoulders and celebrate. After that, they set them aside and leave.

When Corona or a mysterious fever strikes, they shower flowers on doctors and nurses. Then they bury them. This is routine.

We know about the politicians who smile and then stab you in the back!

Today, a sister who took the Hippocratic Oath, dressed in white, and served with dreams of the future alongside her colleagues, lies dead, bleeding nearby. Before her body decays, we must at least fight to get her justice!

Mahatma Gandhi once said that true freedom is when a woman can walk alone at night, adorned with jewelry.

Today, we mark the 78th Independence Day in a time when a woman can’t even rest in peace.

Bharat Mata (Mother India) was spared—because these lustful, cruel beasts can’t see her. Otherwise, they would have raped and ruined her too by now!

Where is India heading? Where are we going?

Time is merciless… We will wait…!!
