Norway Chess: Nakamura Triumphs Over Carlsen, Praggnanandhaa Defeats World Champion Liren

In the seventh round of the Norway Chess tournament held in Stavanger, Hikaru Nakamura won a thrilling Armageddon game against World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen. Despite Carlsen losing on time, he maintains his lead with 13 points, just half a point ahead of Nakamura.

R. Praggnanandhaa, currently in third place with 11 points, added to the woes of the out-of-form World Champion Ding Liren by winning in Armageddon.

In another exciting Armageddon game, Alireza Firouzja of France defeated Fabiano Caruana of the United States. Firouzja now has 9.5 points, Caruana 7.5, and Ding 3.5.

In the women’s section, Ukraine’s Anna Muzychuk shocked World Champion Ju Wenjun, moving to the sole lead with 12 points. Despite losing to Koneru Humpy in the classical game, R. Vaishali remains in third place with 10 points. Humpy and China’s Lei Tingjie both have eight points, while Pia Cramling of Sweden trails with 5.5 points.
