Sarnia, Ontario – Sridhar Ramakrishnan, originally from Tamil Nadu, India, has achieved a remarkable milestone by donating blood 50 times to the Canadian Blood Services. His journey began in August 2000 in Chennai when he urgently arranged 13 units of blood for his father’s heart surgery. This experience sparked his lifelong commitment to blood donation.

Reflecting on his first donation, Sridhar says, “That moment made me realize the importance of donating blood—someone has to do it; there’s no other way.”
Knowing his donations may have saved many lives humbles Sridhar. “It’s a reminder that anyone might need blood at some point. In a nation like Canada, with a population of about 40 million, every donation makes a difference.”
To stay healthy and eligible to donate, Sridhar maintains a balanced diet, exercises regularly, and undergoes routine health check-ups. He assures that blood donation is safe, healthy, and free, urging others to consider it. “It’s easier than paying taxes!” he adds with a smile.
As Sridhar celebrates his 50th donation, he looks forward to continuing to inspire others. “Your donation could save a neighbor, colleague, friend, or even a family member,” he says, appealing to the community.
Sridhar’s dedication and generosity highlight the importance of blood donation in saving lives. Canadian Blood Services and the Sarnia community express their deepest gratitude for his unwavering commitment.
